Review: Enticing Daphne

Enticing Daphne Enticing Daphne by Jessica Prince
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Stars!

Look no further!  This romantic read will leave you in equal parts a giggling mess on the floor as well as swoon until you melt into a puddle of goo.  Enticing Daphne doesn't disappoint and lives up the other books I've read by Jessica Prince.  Chalk full of female power and empowerment, it's sexy, funny, angsty, and oh so satisfying!  I adored every minute of this rom-com.

I fell head over bottom for the girls starting in SEDUCING LOLA.  I was most anxious to read Daphne's story though - especially given all the hints in the previous novellas.  It was great to finally see what drove her and for her to get her HEA.

Review: Bad for You

Bad for You Bad for You by J. Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 My Heart is Aching, Yet Full Stars!

Sean (or Stitch as he’s better known as) is an ex-con trying to just make a new start for himself.  He's driven to put the past behind and move forward from the mistakes he's made in life.  He's new start is as a cook at Whitecaps, the local diner.  Stitch has always been the background, never getting close to any of the staff, but he's immediately taken with Shayla, a waitress at the diner. But he can't get too close, cause if she finds out who he really is, she may just walk away.  After all, that's all he's known in his life.

Shayla is more than what she seems.  Her waitress job is just so she can pay the bills and pursue her greater passion: hair-styling.  She wants make her business succeed as she is both hard working & determined.  She's also a woman who loves her family and her friends - to pieces and will ride and die with the best of them - Stitch included.  You see, Shayla is interested in Stitch, but Stitch is not reciprocating.

Bad for You is the third book in the Dirty Deeds series by J. Daniels.  Each book just keeps getting better and better!  This is by the best one and the most anticipated one, if I do say so myself.

This story is pure magic and shows the power of not only persistence, but of true love and all it's wonder.  I love stories of co-workers finding love with one another.    They start off as co-workers and progress to friends - albeit reluctantly.   Shayla and Stitch's relationship was a slow build, and it needed to be as the anticipation was heighten so much so, if we didn't see the background of their relationship form, I felt they wouldn't have a true HEA.

Bad for You  made me laugh out loud, sob and weep in a corner rocking myself slowly, and angry at the events which shaped a young man's life.  But in the end, you be better for having read through it to the end.  J. Daniels has out done herself with her writing.  I was completely immersed in it from the beginning to the end.  Words can hurt and words can heal, but this book gives hope that somewhere out there, some will listen and be mindful of how they speak, especially to someone who is so young and innocent as a child.

Title: Inseparable

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: January 8th

A gritty, angsty, friends-to-lovers standalone romance from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis.
A childhood promise. An unbreakable bond. One tragic event that shatters everything.
It all started with the boys next door…
Devin and Ayden were my best friends. We were practically joined at the hip since age two. When we were kids, we thought we were invincible, inseparable, that nothing or no one could come between us.
But we were wrong.
Everything turned to crap our senior year of high school.
Devin was turning into a clone of his deadbeat lowlife father—fighting, getting wasted, and screwing his way through every girl in town. I’d been hiding a secret crush on him for years. Afraid to tell him how I felt in case I ruined everything. So, I kept quiet and slowly watched him self-destruct with a constant ache in my heart.
Where Devin was all brooding darkness, Ayden was the shining light. Our star quarterback with the bright future whom everyone loved. But something wasn’t right. He was so guarded, and he wouldn’t let me in.
When Devin publicly shamed me, Ayden took my side, and our awesome-threesome bond was severed. The split was devastating. The heartbreak inevitable.
Ayden and I moved on with our lives, but the pain never lessened, and Devin was never far from our thoughts.
Until it all came to a head in college, and one eventful night changed everything.
Now, I’ve lost the two people who matter more to me than life itself. Nothing will ever be the same again.
A standalone new adult contemporary romance with a happy ending. Only suitable for readers aged eighteen and older due to mature content and possible triggers.

A contemporary romance author running on coffee and sticky kisses from my rowdy four little boys.

From Indiana, I’m a true Mid-Westerner. Life, for me, is about family, faith, and food. Mandi Beck has been an avid reader all of her life. A deep love for books always had her jotting down little stories on napkins, notebooks, and her hand. As an adult she was further submerged into the book world through book clubs and the epicness of social media. It was then that she graduated to writing her stories on her phone and then finally on a proper computer.

A nursing student, mother to two rambunctious and somewhat rotten boys, and stepmom to two great girls away at college, she shares her time with her husband in Chicago where she was born and raised. Mandi is a diehard hockey fan and blames the Blackhawks when her deadlines are not met.

Emma Scott:
I write romances with flawed characters, characters with artistic hearts: builders, poets, and writers of various makes and models. I love to write book lovers; those who have found refuge, companionship, and escape in books, much as we do in real life. I like realism, honesty, authenticity in storytelling. I love to write about enduring love, soul-deep love, in as real a setting as I can make, but with big smooshy HEAs. I believe in diversity, open-mindedness, and inclusion. I like sweetness mixed with steam, love conquering all, and above all, hope. Love always wins.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Review: Team Player

Team Player Team Player by L.J. Shen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Athletic Goodness Stars!

The End Zone by LJ Shen is a friends to lovers romance. I was quickly engrossed by this story, especially with the fake relationship twist that the hero tries to perform. Ms. Shen - oh how I love her brand of hot, conceited, cocky heroes. Sage is ALL that and a bag of chips!

Sage and Jolie are childhood friends from long ago. I adore Jolie. She really put herself out there in a way I don't think I could of. Their story spans years of hardship, father & abuse issues and pulls at the emotions - so much so, I teared up many times during my read.

I loved the depth of these characters and the layers that were peeled back and exposed. I felt like I've known several Jolie's and Sage's in my life. This was a wonderful read and I'm eager to get to the other stories in this anthology, because if they are anything like this one - I won't be disappointed!

Review: Fake Wife

Fake Wife Fake Wife by Stacey Lynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Stars!

I can’t tell you how much I loved this book ... a good fake romance story - I’m especially a sucker for all of those!  I loved seeing Corbin and Teagan's natural progression from virtual strangers to passionate lovers.  You can't help falling in love with this couple.

Both have been hurt by past relationships, but when they started falling for each other - they tried to fight it.  How can two people who entered into a contractual marriage make an honest go of it?   Doesn’t matter how hard they tried not to, feelings blossomed and love found a way.

Corbin and Teagan are fictional characters, but unlike previous characters I've read - they come across as real life ones.  Their predicament was the only fiction - the thoughts, emotions, how they worked through their issues - both together and apart - are what make them feel like flesh and blood people.

I adore Stacey Lynn's writing and I’m glad to have read Corbin and Teagan's story.  It's reignited in me the belief that not all things are left to chance.

Enticing Daphne Final Full Wrap
About the Author:

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That's why God created central air, after all.
Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy--she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.
In addition to being a wife and mom, she's also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books--romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it's a passion...there's a difference. Not that she'd expect a boy to understand.
Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Review: Tap Left

Tap Left Tap Left by A. Zavarelli
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 4.5 Stars!

This book was LAUGH OUT LOUD fun!  A very different read than what I’m used to from this author, but I was totally enamored and adored the story - I just couldn’t get enough!

Lola is the definition of "a hot mess", but I adored her brand of crazy.  She is the character I can most identify with.  Daire was ... well, let me not say what I thought he was - just let me say that he more than makes up for his first impression.  It took a while for me to warm up to him, but when I did ... Whoa Nelly!

Now, I'm gonna warn you - there are sexy times that are not only swoon worthy, but frankly speaking left me panting with baited breath!  I just love a man who can talk dirty to the point where I'm constantly in need a shower to refresh myself.  Adrian Daire ... where are you in RL?  I need you STAT and ASAP!!

Tap Left is an sizzling, scorcher of an erotic story and I loved every minute of it.  This is a definite must read - I highly recommend it!

Review: Inseparable

Inseparable Inseparable by Siobhan Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Ugly Cry Stars ...

Review to come ... as I’m emotionally gutted by this beautiful, yet sad tale!

Ok ... I've thought long and hard about what I wanted to say, but I’m still so overcome when I think of Dev, Ayd and the woman between them both - Lina.  In fact, my heart is still somewhat broken and shattered!

The main characters in this book face so many trials put forth in life and have to overcome the constant obstacles that are thrown in their way.  They don't make it through unscathed nor do they make it through together at times, but it's all apart of the journey.  We've all been there at one point or another in our lives, so we can all make parallels to what these characters have endured and faced.  Part of what makes us all human is our mistakes and the choices we make.  But making restitution and owning up them - that shows us how we can learn from these experiences, grown from them, and struggle onto the path that turns us into better people.  And that's what Devin, Ayden, and Angelina struggle to comprehend.

I could not put INSEPARABLE - from the first sentence to the very last, I was captivated by it.  So much so that time flew by and it was over too soon.  I will definitely have to re-read this because I feel like I missed some key parts that are still bothering me to this day ... but don’t get me wrong, this book is definite #MUSTREAD.

This is a story of breaking up and apart, learning and growing up, but most of all healing - of ourselves and others.  It  was engrossing, border-line obsessive, and emotional ... I was plagued with the #AllTheFeels.   I was exhausted, but satisfied as only Siobhan Davis can do - I mean, have you read the Kennedy Series yet?  Need I say more?

INSEPARABLE is an amazeballs book and I highly recommend it!

Review: Decidedly With Love

Decidedly With Love Decidedly With Love by Stina Lindenblatt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Stars!

I have read the other books and this series and I'm just further impressed by how Ms. Lindenblatt manages to connect all the stories together. I never loose knowledge of where the characters are at in their lives moving forward or going back.

Stina has done it again with another great story, focused on great yet flawed characters. I mean, how can you not love a story where the H adores his Grandma - so much so that he's willing to fake a relationship? Travis and Emma's story - a story that starts out about a fake relationship which quickly not only gets out of control, but jumps off the rails! The writing is what kept me glued to the story. It is well written and you will fall in love with it. Chalked full of humor, whit, and touchy-feely moments and let's not forget that off the charts chemistry between Travis and Emma - you don't want to miss out on this!

Excerpt:

Shaking off the memory of yesterday, I grabbed my purse and opened the door to my apartment with every intention of jumping in a cab to the address Joe had given me.
However, a man blocked my way.
He stood in my doorway, his fist raised as if to knock.
Shocked, I stared up at his familiar face.
Why the hell was Henry Lexington standing in my doorway?
His vibrant blue eyes met mine and for a moment, neither of us said a word. Silence stretched thinly between us, and I suddenly realized I was holding my breath.
Lexington quite abruptly broke the silence. “Miss Ray?”
      “Yes, what—”
“We need to talk.” He pushed past me and walked into my apartment without an invitation.
For a moment, I stood there with my mouth open, asking myself if that had just happened. Were people really that rude?
I stared after him, watching him disappear out of my hall and into my sitting room.
All my papers on Carraway were in there!
“Hey!” I called, shutting the door and hurrying after him. “What do you think you’re doing?”              Lexington stood in the middle of my small sitting room, his back, thankfully, to my desk. His expression was sullen, cool, and calculating. This was not the charming, hedonistic millionaire I’d read about. “I could ask you the same thing, Miss Ray.”
“Excuse me?” Cold sweat prickled under my arms. Did he know? How did he know? If he didn’t know, why the hell else would he be here? Why was he here and not Carraway?
I waited anxiously for Lexington to stop boring through my face with his hard eyes. “I assume you know who I am.”
      “You’re Henry Lexington.”
“And you, Miss Ray,” he turned and strode over to my desk, fingering my papers, “are going to let a certain story die.”
      My belly flipped unpleasantly.
      Goddammit. “What?” I said.
Lexington raised an unimpressed eyebrow. “Imelda Worthington.”
      Fuck
“That blank expression isn’t fooling anyone, Miss Ray. I know she said a few unfortunate things to Richard Peters, your boss, and I know you’ve been calling her ever since.”
Despite my guilt, despite knowing I was in the wrong here, this privileged asshole had burst into my apartment to intimidate me. Like hell! “You do, do you?”
His eyes narrowed. “Imelda informed me of what’s been going on and asked me to kindly give you a message.” He prowled toward me and I suddenly felt real fear. I didn’t know this man and he was here to shut me up. How far would he go? I steeled myself, not wanting him to see my fear. If my expression gave me away, however, I didn’t know; all I did know was that Henry Lexington stopped a good foot from me. It still wasn’t enough. He stood at over six feet, his broad shoulders fitted into a perfectly tailored three-piece suit. He had big, masculine hands, one hidden in his pocket, the other resting on his flat stomach over a suit button. Henry Lexington had a swimmer’s build—sleek but powerful—and I could only guess at the strength beneath his suit. I struggled not to feel overwhelmed by his large, magnetic presence, as much as I struggled not to feel fear.
“You’ll leave her alone,” he demanded.
Guessing there was no point in being coy considering he’d seen my desk, I asked, “Why are you here instead of Carraway?”
Lexington flashed me a wolfish grin that didn’t reach his eyes. “Because I’m the nice one. Caine scares Imelda. He scares most people. Not you, though.” He took another step toward me, seeming to be cataloguing every little nuance of my face. “And if you’re not careful, that lack of fear could ruin you, Miss Ray.”

Final Score - 5 Stars!

Villain is a companion story to Hero, but can definitely be read as a standalone.

When the books first starts, we meet Nadia.  She's a broadcast meteorologist - her dream job.  However, she's not exactly working in a dream environment.  Her boss is blackmailing her.  He wants her to dig Caine Calloway's past (He's from the book Hero).  He snooping doesn't go unnoticed and soon Caine's best friend Henry is paying Nadia a visit.  However, all is not how it seems.

Henry is rich, powerful in his own right, and has a devilish charm that woos many women into his sphere - except Nadia.  Sparks do fly between them - but the misunderstanding of Nadia's activities into Caine's past is an obstacle neither one can seems to overcome.

Mutual distrust and a powerful attraction soon lead both into a passionate affair.  But Nadia still fears her past - one that can threaten their new relationship before it even starts.

I adored Henry's relentless pursuit of Nadia - even after the misunderstanding.  Their romances didn't get off the best start, but you gotta love it when the guy chases the girl - and eats a healthy dose of humble pie along the way.   Their road to love & HEA had just enough angst and humor to make it something a little bit more than the usual cliche romance - and I love that about Samantha Young's writing!

I have been reading Samantha Young for quite some time now, and she never disappoints or fails to deliver me a tear-jerker of a story.  They are the best kinds of stories.  I will forever read her books as long as she keeps writing.  She is truly a remarkable and talented writer.
