New Release Friday - Broken Girl by Gretchen De La O!

BROKEN GIRL goes L-I-V-E April 29th, 2016 and will be offered up for pre-order and will be put on KINDLE UNLIMITED. The set price is $3.99.

My name is ROSE NEWTON, and I sell my body on the streets of San Francisco. I’m what you call society's dirty little secret. On the outside, I'm in control, the woman who makes her own rules and gives nothing away for free. Inside, I’m broken and numb. Torn and shattered by my past, my life is nothing more than the lost fragments of what's left of me.

SHANE WEST represents everything that’s foreign to me. He’s brave, kind, funny, gorgeous and persistent. When fate brings us face to face, an undeniable attraction blazes between us. He becomes the constant I've never had and the only man I'll ever trust.

There is nothing simple about falling in love when you're keeping a secret like mine.

*Readers discretion advised. Highly recommended for readers 18+.

I was really good at acting. I learned early on, a prostitute couldn’t sell her body without the ability to turn on the dramatics. There was something to be said about hooking up every couple of weeks with the same trick and making it seem new. It was my job to make them think what they did to me was the most mind-blowing sex I’d ever experienced and, well, I was pretty damn good at my job.

I had to be stronger than any simple desire to feel worthy of something beyond numb. I knew what was going to happen when I’d truly let him in; things were gonna get complicated, fast. Shuffling my feelings around in my mind for Shane was as fucked up as being beaten simply because I was born. Nothing in this world had convinced me that if I slid that thin blade of emotion against my flesh I’d feel whole again. No love, no desire would ever be worthy of that searing pain.

I pulled my legs up under my ass and curled up on the couch. Tears I hadn’t let go of since I sold my heart to the loveless fuck who took my soul and crushed it, fell fast and swirled from my chin before they soaked into the front of my camisole. I cried. My eyes burned with the sting of every time I thought about all the mindless, sick fucks who stole pieces of my life and never returned them. My controlled aching whimpers turned into uncontrollable belly deep howls as my entire life busted from the vault in my heart.

I didn’t stop crying, not even when my voice was gone and my throat begged me to feel the burn of tequila. And even though I lived through the horrors of alcoholism with my parents, it didn’t keep me from knocking back the entire bottle of that golden poison. I welcomed the warm burn against the back of my throat as the scorching pressure pushed at my lungs and the tequila blazed down into my stomach in waves of gut rotting satisfaction, finally I felt something before I had become ragingly numb.

J.A. Huss
Publication date: April 27th 2016
Genres: Contemporary Romance
Wanting the perfect man doesn’t make me crazy. I just know what I like.
A powerful billionaire in a suit wasn’t even my first choice. Mcallister Stonewall was never on my radar, I didn’t even know he existed.
But I do now.
His hands are all over me at work. The heat of his chest pressing against my bare back as he bends me over the desk is the only thing on my mind.
He is my most forbidden desires unleashed. He is my new secret obsession. He is my Mr. Perfect.
Until the moment I realize… There’s no such thing as perfect.

“We own most of the land in the Tech Center. My father bought up the land thirty years ago before any of this was here. And we lease it out.”

Jesus. What kind of money is that? I can’t even begin to understand it.
“Anyway,” Mac says, standing. “I’m waiting in here for a reason.”

“Is that right?” I stand up too, but my heart beats a little faster when I take him in. He’s wearing a dark gray suit today, a blue shirt that is so light it’s barely a color, and another brilliant cerulean-blue tie that makes his matching eyes shine as they stare into mine.

I don’t know why, but I step backwards. His full attention on me suddenly feels more like a force than a look. He steps forward, hands reaching for me. I bump against the wall, no escape, and then he fists the front of my blouse and rips it open, revealing my silk cami.

My mouth opens in surprise.

He rips the cami apart too. And then, with one forceful whoosh, both garments are lying in a puddle of fabric on the floor.

“What are you doing?” I yell.

The intense stare turns to a boyish smile. “I’d like you topless for breakfast. And I get to call the shots for our dates.”

“Why do I even bother with you? Just why?” I refuse to cross my arms and cover my tits. Fuck him. Just fuck him. “Every time I start to think you’re not a pig, you go and do something like this.”

“It’s fun, right?” His smile never cracks.
“No,” I say. “It’s humiliating.”
“Your tits are nice, Ellie. You should not be ashamed of them.”
“I’m not ashamed of them—”

“Good. Because I’d like to stare at them while we have coffee and discuss our date tonight.”
A knock comes from Mac’s office and I might have a panic attack that someone will come in and find me bare like this.

“Hold that thought,” Mac says, leaning down to kiss my lips. “Breakfast is here. Sit,” he says, pushing on my shoulders until I slump into the window seat again. “I’ll be right back.”

And then he enters his office, pulling our connecting door closed.

I listen to the conversation in there as I look down at my clothes. What the hell was he thinking? The cami is dust. Ripped straight down the middle. At least the silk button-up shirt is only missing all the buttons. I can probably tie it around my waist to make it out to the parking lot, but—

There’s a jingle of a cart and plates. We have… room service? What kind of company has room service?

I guess I’m not all that surprised they have it up here. We have several restaurants on campus. The Atrium has a cafeteria. Maybe this came from the cafeteria?

Mac is laughing on the other side of the door, then I hear a polite thank you just before the sound of a closing door.

The connecting door swings open again and Mac is there, a wide grin on his face. “I hope you like pancakes.”

“This is not happening.”

“Oh, this is happening, Miss Hatcher. You are sitting here.” He points to the middle of the window seat as he pushes the cart towards me.

“I have no clothes, Mac. You ripped my cami. I’m going to have to tie that over-shirt on and go home to change. In fact,” I say, reaching down to get my blouse and pull myself together, “I’m not coming back. I’m done. Just when I think you’re a human, you act like an ape.”

“Would you just relax, Ellie?” He rips the shirt from my hands, balls it up, and then tosses it in the air, where it arcs perfectly and sails into the new trashcan that matches the desk. “Three points,” he says.

“It’s like you live in your own world or something. I think it’s funny that you accused me of living in some delusional fantasy, but you, Mr. Stonewall, you’re a raving lunatic who thinks the world is his asylum.”

“I’m going to take that as a compliment. Now sit. I’ve got it all under control.”

Hallorans vs. O'Malleys-that's how it's always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family's empire instead of how silky Carrigan's skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. Review: His to Protect

His to Protect His to Protect by Stacey Lynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Final Score - 4.5 Oh My God, What Next? Stars!

***received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

I have to sleep on this... so much to say, I need to word it right!

Declan. Masculine. Bar Owner. Loyal friend. Just fresh off a tumultuous divorce. When he finds someone raiding through his dumpster, never suspects that she would be beautiful, weary, or his future come to life.

Trina. Broken & beaten by her sick, vicious husband. On the run. Living in her car, in fear of being found and dragged back to more violence and abuse. She knows that Declan's offer of home & protection is kind, given that they are virtual strangers, but then why does she feel this strong attraction that cannot be ignored?

From the very beginning I knew how this would. But the journey there was one I could not predict. How do you trust a stranger with your life? TO keep you safe from the person who's supposed to be your everything, but turns out to be your worse nightmare?

It was awesome seeing Tyson & Blue appear in book, still together, still so much in love. I think seeing their relationship and hearing how it started helped Trina to know what she needed and wanted - Declan. He's comfort, his love, his very life (although she never asked it of him) to protect her. That's just how Declan operates - he's fiercely loyal to those he loves.

I feel like Declan should have slowed down a bit though - not force himself so strongly - especially given the way Trina's relationship with her husband ended. Its very hard for victims of spousal abuse to trust people, which is why Trina took long to let Declan in & tell him about her husband.

And I get it, Declan wasn't in a good position - he was flying blind and didn't know what he had gotten himself into - anyone else in his position would have done the same. I guess what really makes me question how sure he was of Trina was how his ex-wife acted during and after their marriage. But as unforgivable as how she was during their marriage, he still managed to put blind trust in Trina. And not only that, he fell in love with her as well & she with him.

The inevitable showdown with Trina and her husband had me nervous ... I was worried it was going to end badly, with Declan wounded. But thank goodness everyone made it out of that. And now Trina can start her life over again, in peace and tranquility... safe in the knowledge that Declan will NEVER hurt her, physically or emotionally.

This story was a great read as I read nearly 10 chapters a night just to get caught up & finished! I would definitely re-read this story. It should give all victims of abuse hope, knowing that can learn to trust again. Great writing!

Review: Sidebarred

Sidebarred Sidebarred by Emma Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 It's Over, I'm Sad but Happy Stars!

I'm so sad that this has ended, but much like Emma's previous work (The Tangled Series), this one leaves you with the ultimate sense of satisfaction and happiness. You even get a sneak peak into the future, where you get to see a of glimpse of how our gang is doing as grandparents, parents, and above all else - friends. Stanton & Sofia, Jake & Chelsea, Brent & Kennedy, even the kids - we see who've they turned into, but most importantly who they've become to each other...

I had a lot of laughs (courtesy of some wise-cracking kids) and some emotional tears (again, due to those kids), and some frustrating/cringe-worthy outbursts (Still can't believe he went all Alpha like that!).

This was the perfect ending to a great series of stories.

I will miss these characters.

Review: Broken Girl

Broken Girl Broken Girl by Gretchen de la O
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Oh My Aching Heart Stars!

*received ARC from author in exchange for an honest review*

I need to sleep on this one to gather my thoughts. Review to come in the a.m.

Wow! Just... wow! My mind is blown away by this book. Gritty, honest, in you face. That how I describe Rose. She's a warrior. Life has continually knocked her down, but she doesn't go down. She fights, but she's built walls that are impenetrable... because she's had to. Betrayed by the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally. God, the things she went thru, it was enough to make me cry, which happened continuously through out the book.

Rose wants what every one wants - to be accepted. To be believed. To be loved & cherished. To know that her life/death would mean something to someone.

That came in the form of Shane. I truly believe he came into her life at a time where he was necessary for her to not loose that last part of her that was human, capable of feeling. He's a balm to her wounded soul. You couldn't help but root for them - for Rose to come clean about her life and what had happened to her, for Shane to knock thru those carefully constructed walls, for life to just cut Rose a break and give her that desired out from the life she was living on the streets, but most of all, YOU wanted her to not feel like that broken 9 year girl, who was so brutally shattered into pieces, never to be put fully back together again.

This book was unlike any other I've read - I felt as if I was reading my own life in words. As a survivor of childhood sex abuse, while I was never raped, I understand Rose's thoughts and feelings - they were/are to a degree my own. I couldn't help but relate to her and what she needed to do in order to survive. And while my life parallels to her - to a degree - the similarities are both striking and haunting.

Normally, I would like to have seen an epilogue - but this book didn't need it. I like to see things tied up in a perfectly form HEA, but again - THIS BOOK DIDN'T NEED IT. I don't even care if her parent get redeemed, nor do I want to know! This book has the ending it was supposed to have, so very different from how it started and that to me was the most perfect HEA I could have ever asked for.

This book will DEFINITELY stay with me, both on my radar (to be re-read again at a later date) and also in my heart & mind, for a long time to come!

Graham and Soraya’s highly anticipated romance is finally here in Stuck-Up Suit by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward!

stuck - up suit cover.jpg

It started out like any other morning on the train.

Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.

He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.

Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?

Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.
When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left. So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.

I might have picked it up.

I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.

I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days—until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.

When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.

So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.

I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.

I didn’t expect him to text back.

I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.

I didn’t expect to fall for him—all before we even met.

The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.

Yet, you know what they say about opposites.

When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract—we consumed each other.

Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn't see coming.

stuck up suit teaser rb.jpg

Outside of the restaurant, Graham’s black car was already curbside. He must have had it waiting and called the driver when I went to the restroom.

“If you’re not going to come home with me, I insist on at least giving you a ride home to your place.”

“The subway is right around the corner. I’m good.”

He shot me an annoyed glance. “Give a little, Soraya. It’s a ride home, not a ride on my cock. And I think you know by now that I’m not a serial killer.”

“You’re so crass.”

He put his hand on the small of my back and steered me to the waiting open car door. I didn’t put up a fight. Graham was right, I was being stubborn while he had pretty much agreed to anything I demanded. Something told me it was a rare occasion when the man was this flexible.

When we arrived at my apartment, Graham walked me to the door.

“When will I see you again?”

“Well, tomorrow is Saturday, so I suppose maybe Monday on the train.”

“Have dinner with me again tomorrow?”

“I have plans.”

His jaw flexed. “With whom?”

We embarked into a lengthy stare off. His gaze was hard. When neither of us gave for a few minutes, he grumbled Christ under his breath, and before I realized what was happening, my back was against the door, and his mouth was on mine.

He kissed me as if he wanted to eat me alive. Before releasing my mouth, he took my lower lip between his teeth and tugged. Hard. With his lips vibrating up against mine, he spoke. “Don’t push me to my limit, Soraya.”

“Why? What will happen?”

“I’ll push back. And I’m trying not to do that with you.”

He was being honest, and I realized I should appreciate that. “To my sister’s house. It’s my niece’s birthday party. That’s where I’m going tomorrow night.

He nodded. “Thank you.”

It took every bit of my willpower to go inside and shut the door behind me. I leaned my back against the door, unable to remember the last time I was so hot and bothered. Maybe not ever. His mouth was sinful; the thought of what he could do with that wicked tongue other places on my body kept me in a state of arousal that bordered on frenzied. But it was more than that. The way he was so dominating and controlling, yet exercised restraint to respect my wishes, was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. The man stimulated something that had been sleeping inside of me. I needed a glass of wine and an orgasm. Not necessarily in that order. If I was going be firm on my stance that we get to know each other and not have sex, then taking things into my own hands was absolutely essential.

In my bedroom, I stripped out of my clothes. I didn’t sleep naked every night, but tonight was definitely a bare evening. As I slipped into bed, my cell rang.

“Is phone sex on the table?” Graham’s voice was a needy rasp. Whatever cooling off my body had done since I left him on the other side of the door was instantly reheated. His voice could definitely speed things up for me. But…

“Sex is off the table. That should probably include all types of sex. Intercourse, oral, phone.”

He groaned. “Oral. God, I want to taste you. And feel that metal tongue ring on my cock. You have no idea how difficult it was to control myself tonight every time I caught a glimpse of that metal when you spoke. It’s like you’re taunting me with every word. What are you wearing, Soraya?”

That voice. I needed to record him saying What are you wearing, Soraya? So I could play it over and over again in a loop when I needed to satisfy my own needs. “I’m actually not wearing anything. I just got undressed and slipped into bed.”

“You sleep naked?”

He actually growled. “Touch yourself.”

“I plan to. But I think I’m going to need both hands tonight. So I’m going to hang up first.”

“How long do you plan on driving me crazy, Soraya?”

“Good night, Graham.” I hung up without waiting for him to respond. Even though my body physically ached for the man, I wasn’t ready to open that door with him just yet. Although as I glided my hand down my body alone in my bed, the only thing I could think of was God, I wish it was his hand.
