The One I Want by Siobhan Davis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Final Score - 4 Stars
I’m so conflicted in my feelings about this book …
It started out with such a slow burn romance, I was struggling to finish as there were times I just wanted to DNF the book and be done with it. But I stayed with it because I made a commitment, and I was rooting for Stevie to finally give Garrick a chance and see how their love story would unfold. And she did. And there were happy times and times when I just wanted to shake Stevie & Garrick. And then, all was right between them again. But, then it all change. And with that change came a 180 about face and I’m not sure if I’m happy with the direction it went and how it all came about. I was invested in Garrick, but I too fell for Beck. Ugh!
The writing was excellent - as always with Siobhan Davis - I’m never disappointed in how she writes such emotional stories. This book will definitely put you thru the paces! However, still with everything that happened, I felt that this book could have been split into two (2) separate books.
Overall, I’m still feel like I’m on the rollacoaster and having just gotten off the ride, I’m a bit nauseous and unsure of my bearings. I will have to read this book again sometime in the future and see how it sits with me then vs now.
