My Best Friend’s Ex by Meghan Quinn
Publication Date: June 1st, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.
Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn't be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he's still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I'm trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.
Boy, was I wrong.
Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.
Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.
But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.
Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend's ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that's what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

Final Score - 5 #AllTheFeels Stars!!!

I hate to admit this but ... this was my first Meghan Quinn book.  I have a few of her books just sitting on my kindle, but for some reason, this book called to me.  And am I ever happy it did!

I really enjoyed not only her style of writing but the way she wrote these characters.  Their quick witted dialogues has me laughing at the most importuned moments.  And now I find out it's a companion book to Co-Wrecker?  You know what I have to do!

At the center of this story is Tucker Jameson and Emma Marks, who at one time belonged to a group of friends. Emma is the best friend to Sadie and Tucker was Sadie's ex-boyfriend, that was left behind after their breakup.  Sides were chosen and Emma lost contact with Tucker.  Honestly, when I realized what the storyline was about - my first thought was that there had to be some cheating involved (of course I later find out that it didn't happen in this book).  Tucker has gone through a traumatic event with Sadie and after their breakup, he was left behind to pick up the pieces all by himself.  This did not sit well with me and immediately I felt nothing but sympathy for Tucker and pure hatred for Sadie.

It's been over a year and he's still having a hard time letting go of the past.  He took all his pain and all emotions and just put it into a room in his house, under lock and key.  He just gets through the day to day tasks at hand - sleep, work, wash, repeat.  I truly empathized with him and my heart went out to him. What he went through, I couldn't even imagine, but the way dealt with it wasn't healthy.

One night, alone by himself in a bar, he spots old friend Emma, who's not having an easy time either.  She's just been evicted from her home and has nowhere to stay.  In comes Tucker to save the day by offering her a place to stay, but I didn't really connect this as they had lost touch with one another for such a long period of time.  In my mind, they weren't really friends.  However that didn't stop them from moving in together and boy did fireworks start from move in day.

My Best Friend's Ex had cute and funny moments, it had heartbreaking moments, it had cringe-worthy moments, after all was said and done, Tucker and Ellie grew strong in their new found friendship and later relationship.  However, I would have liked that Tucker been more open and honest with Ellie and vice versa.  It take communication to make a relationship work.  These two really struggled with that concept.

I absolutely swooned over Tucker's construction worker friends.  Ellie's friends were endearing, but no where near the same caliber - I swoon over men who work in physical labor trades ... they are just so yummy, scrumptious, delicious specimens who are down to earth.

Ms. Quinn did a fabulous job in writing this book.  I will most definitely need to read Co-Wrecker soon and again read this book.  The fast paced plots, wonderful characters made for a most enjoyable commute home - when I wasn't being looked at strangely for my outbursts of uncontrollable laughter.

I'm definitely looking forward reading more from her in the future!

About the Author:

A BLONDE AT HEART

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
