Synopsis

I've always followed my dreams with ruthless determination.
My life was going well. Success was at my fingertips.
Until it wasn't.
All it took was three seconds to send my world crashing down around me, ripping my dreams to shreds.
Then I meet her, with her large hazel eyes that slay me at first glance.
And everything starts to make sense again.
I try to keep my distance.
To remind myself I am her mentor.
That we can't be more,
but every time I push away, I'm pulled deeper into her.
The line between student and teacher is blurring.
One kiss.
One taste.
They’re all it would take to cross the line.

Final Score - 5 All the Feels Stars!!!

I've done it ... yet again. I haven't read Fall Back Skyward, but I do own it. But it doesn't matter, cause this book stands on it's own. Will I go back to read the first book of this series - you betcha! - but I don't feel as if I missed out on anything while reading Breaking Gravity. If anything, it makes me want to read more of this series!

There are so many rocky and complicated relationships in this book - between parent and child, siblings, husbands and wives. I have to say the most complicated relationship was that of student and teacher and the lines that blur when a romantic relationship neither was really for, suddenly occurs. Elon just a few short credits away from graduation. Nate is getting over a devastating tragedy.

They should have had nothing in common, but its their traumatic past that helps them forge an unbreakable bond that neither can refute or deny. Of course, they have some serious issues because of their past trauma, but I loved how they healed themselves and each other. At times there was a push/tug aspect, but they treated each other with a deep and mutual respect.

Elon showed a maturity far beyond her years and it's because of how her past shaped her into the woman she is. Of course, there was the drama you tend to see in a lot of student/teacher romances. but that was really the backstory here. Ms. Grey took her time in telling and shaping Elon and Nate's epic love story. At no time did it feel rushed and I fully connected with all the characters - so much so that I really need to get to the first book in this series and soon!

I really enjoyed the writing style and the character development. I felt it wasn't just one story being told, but a beginning and a conclusion. I do feel for Elon's best friend Nick - and I feel that at some point I'd love to see his story told.

I am SO looking forward to the next book in this series as well as finally getting to the first book.
