Review: Jake Undone

Jake Undone Jake Undone by Penelope Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Final Score - 5 Tears of Frustration & Happiness Stars!

Jake. Just thinking his name, let alone typing it has me tearing up still. Gah! The crap that he's gone thru in life, the distance he's put between himself and others, the ultimate sacrifice he was about to commit to... is there such a man as him out there? If so, I'd REALLY love to meet and marry him, like 5 mins ago.

Nina. What can I say, you've also had a lot poured onto your plate. Some of it, I don't know how you managed to survive, but you did. And you found in Jake a soul just as damaged as yours, but a love that is quite rare.

Now the both you have put thru the ringer - the will she/he won't she/he; the misunderstanding, the love and togetherness; the fallout! But in the end, you both made it thru and back to one another. I was crying buckets of tears and worried as there wasn't a part of this book that didn't have me crying uncontrollably - my puppy probably thinks I'm bi-polar at this point.

I do have to say this though - you need to pick a better friend, ie: Ryan. I like him in the beginning. He was the perfect surrogate brother. He seemed to mind his own business and that was so good. But when the crap started hitting the fan, the strength and length he went to - didn't appreciate that. I know the saying goes that friends will look out for you, but in this case... he should have minded his own damn business. And while it wasn't said in the book, I think it's been implied that his actions not only cost him close friendships with both Ryan and Nina, but his relationship with Taryn as well. Can't say as I blame her.

This one is definitely on my favorite list. This book however made me too emotional, not that that was a bad thing. In fact, it's the opposite. Those books tend to stay with me the longest.

Great job Ms. Ward!
